The MRL celebrated 75 years of rock-solid minerals research on Friday, October 22, 2021. More than 35 attendees including MRL and IES staff, customers and long-time partners visited the facility during a celebration that launched with a virtual visit from Dean Louis Martin-Vega.
The College of Engineering published a press release representing the 75 year celebration.
MRL Director Dr. Robert Mensah-Biney indicates that “future is bright for MRL as high tech minerals will be needed for advanced technology and it will be critical to help in the recovery of high tech minerals from the waste of previously mined resources. These minerals will be industrial minerals as opposed to metal minerals, and MRL is well positioned to be a leader in applied research for these minerals.”
